Clergy
Workshops
Clergy Workshops train clergy to effectively address domestic violence through their particular roles in society and show them how they can organize their respective organizations to provide support to their member’s needs. These workshops may have anywhere from 12 to 40 participants and will include from 5 to 25 local providers on the panels. In a full day of activity we use videos, lectures, small discussion groups, role-playing, and develop networks for follow up support.
Over 90% of the 300+ clergy that we have trained to effectively address domestic violence have reported that seminary did not prepare them to deal with this epidemic in their congregations and communities.
Every 9 seconds a woman in our country is abused by
someone intimate with her.
About 45% of the female intimate violence victims in
1998 lived in households with children younger than twelve years old. (Rennison
and Welchans May 2000)
One out of every four people in any gathering (including church) are or have been victims of domestic violence.
