Speak Out - It's Worth it/ Hablar - Vale la Pena - by Chuck Burton
They wanted to do something, not just talk about it. So, they called DOLPHINS.
"It is time for us to do something about domestic violence," announced our lay leader, Antoinette Miller. We were at a Leadership Council Meeting of Wesley United Methodist Church, Miami. The council responded by applying for a grant from the Florida Conference Church and Society Team. They were awarded the grant and the effort to make a difference began. The planning committee met with DOLPHINS to Stop Domestic Violence director,
Dr. Pam Feeser, to develop the program. The kickoff chili dinner was held February 11 with English and Spanish speaking congregations attending. Rev. Feeser provided the diverse audience with facts and figures about domestic violence. The realization of the prevalence and seriousness of this problem was further heightened. At the ensuing workshop two weeks later, individuals were compelled to share personal stories involving their connections with domestic violence. Participants responded with a strong commitment to address the issues of awareness, accountability, support, etc. Wesley UMC and Wesley Hispanic UMC, with the guidance of DOLPHINS, has designed a meaningful program of ministry to stop the silence, stop the violence.

It looks different
Virus, Virus, Virus .. All these viruses make us very cautious about downloading anything these days.
The original format for our newsletter has been highly praised by many of you. Thank you for your feedback. However, downloading the newsletter was, understandably, a cause for concern to many of you. We heard your concerns and are in the process of developing a new format that is equally attractive yet does not need to be downloaded.
As you can tell, we haven't settled on one yet. But, I just didn't want to wait any longer to get our news out to you. So, please bear with us while we are in the construction stages. And keep your wonderful feedback coming.
